Premier League – 6th round

No doubt regarding my bets last weekend where the treble made an easy win at odds 2,51. It was another good week for the favourites as seven of the ten Premier League-games ended with win to the team placed under 2,00 in odds. Only real surprises came in Manchester United – Brighton and Bournemouth – Chelsea, but looking at how United and Chelsea have opened the new season you could argue it’s not really surprising results there either.

Premier League 6th round

Manchester City vs Nottingham Forest

Erling Braut Haaland struggled in front of goal, when he missed a large number of huge scoring chances against West Ham. City also ended up behind but turned around to a deserved victory after Jeremy Doku equalized immediately after the break. The Belgian showed proof that he can become a particularly useful player, and yes – Haaland scored in the end. Forest has occasionally impressed at the beginning of the season, and especially away from home. Had Manchester United on their knees at Trafford before Chelsea were beaten in London. However, failed to follow up at home against Burnley on Monday. It ended 1-1, but Burnley had a possible winning goal questionably disallowed. Smoked 0-6 away to City last season. I will just continue to ride this City win train until they show any kind of weakness.

Liverpool vs West Ham

Jürgen Klopp himself had to bear the responsibility if it had ended in a loss against Wolves. Players who had arrived late from national team assignments were included in the first eleven, and Alexis Mac Allister was one of those who played as if in his sleep. The changes and the half-time talk made the big difference, and it finally ended with a 3-1 victory after a great 2nd half. James Ward-Prowse sent West Ham into the break with a 1-0 lead at home to Manchester City, but the lead was equalized immediately after the break. Michail Antonio misused a solid scoring chance, but the Norwegian striker also wasted chances on the opposite half. All in all, it was a deserved defeat for Moyes & Co. Liverpool now has 16 Premier League games in a row without a loss and this should be number 17.

Chelsea vs Aston Villa

Still a long way to go for Mauricio Pochettino and Chelsea. The many injuries and the even more summer purchases naturally contribute to the fact that it will take time, but it is nevertheless disappointing to see how little has been recovered for the insane spending of money over the past year or so. Raheem Sterling is a bright spot, and he was also the one who came closest to scoring in the goalless match against Bournemouth. Villa were 0-1 down at home against Palace when three minutes remained of normal time. Substitute Jhon Durán equalized before two goals deep into extra time secured a 3-1 victory. This was Villa’s ninth straight home win. Away from home, they have not impressed this season. I’m waiting on Chelsea to wake up but for now I’m going with the over 2,5 goals option in this game.
